Saratoga, CA, September 23, 2020 – Aizip, Inc., a startup company focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, announced today that it has set up its operation in Silicon Valley, California.
AI has experienced explosive growth over the last decade, benefiting society on multiple fronts. AI for IoT applications, or AIoT, is the new frontier in the AI market and is predicted to be one of the fastest-growing business sectors in the coming decade. In particular, machine learning (ML) for microcontrollers (MCU) and AI accelerators, so-called tiny machine learning (TinyML), has attracted wide attention from both academia and industries.
Intelligence is expanding from cloud to edge to IoT. The market for TinyML is enormous, with sensors/MCUs deployed to every corner of our daily life. However, there are many challenges associated with this giant opportunity. Processing power and memory are typically very limited in IoT hardware, putting severe constraints on the AI deep neural networks (DNN). In addition, MCUs may operate on batteries, and require very low-power operation. In addition to these technical demands, diverse hardware designs add additional complexity.
Aizip was founded in August 2020 specifically to solve these AioT problems, and is staffed by a team of leading AI experts and seasoned business executives. “Our team is well-positioned to take on the challenges in AIoT and provide excellent solutions to our customers,” commented Yubei Chen, who co-founded Aizip. He received his Ph.D. from the EECS department at UC Berkeley with a focus on AI. “The technical team consists of leading AI scientists from academia and experienced AI engineers from both the AI and IoT industries. We have the expertise to cover the full technical spectrum for TinyML design,” Chen elaborated.
The 2020 global pandemic has caused significant turmoil in our daily lives and to the worldwide economy. There is an even stronger push for more intelligent services in society, such as virus detection, health monitoring, and gesture control. Remote working is becoming the norm for many employees during the pandemic and is predicted to stay for many afterwards. This factor adds the driving force for more intelligent IoT applications in the years to come.
With the setup of its Silicon Valley headquarters, Aizip is committed to working with its partners in bringing AIoT to users worldwide and in enhancing life quality for our community. For more information, please contact info@aizip.ai.
